Kelli Faith Presents A New Direction With "Feels Like Home"- Review

Written by Daniela Ruíz

Kelli Faith, the singer/songwriter from New Jersey, has released her new single “Feels Like Home”. It's her second release of the year following “Can't Get Enough”, which we premiered here at Legends of Tomorrow a few months ago.

Both tracks are part of Faith's search for her own sound. They differentiate a lot from the songs on her debut record “21”, presenting themselves with lusher production and the feature of electric guitar; a welcomed addition to her set of acoustic instrumentation.

This doesn't mean that both tracks follow the same path thought.

While her previous work talks about lovers and broken hearts, this single breaks from the romantic theme and touches on how everyone has something or someone who gives the kind feeling of belonging. She pulls it off while retaining the honesty and maturity unique to her music.

This shows that Faith's ability to reach straight to the listener's heart isn't subject to a topic, but a versatile strength.

And that warmth beautifully transcends to the instrumentals. The base is a constant drumbeat that keeps it in motion, with bright acoustic guitars paving the way and Kelli's sweet vocals leading them all.

But what hits it in are the sliding guitars, coming up at the beginning as a hint of what's next. Where they really shine is in the chorus though, accompanied by subtle yet reaching strings, submerging you in the feeling of the song, giving the embrace of a close friend.

If “Can't Get Enough” was a presentation for a new direction, “Feels Like Home” is a big step towards its realization. While Faith has stated that these singles work by themselves and aren't necessarily part of a record, it makes you excited for what's to come.
