Where the Tide Meets the Stream With Glass House Point- "Verglas" Review

Written by Julia Kender

Glass House Point, an alternative-rock band from Florida is currently on the rise. Their newest EP “Verglas", is filled to the brim with great songs. It's easy to say this EP has no skippable songs.

Glass House Point has a strong but subtle opening song in “All to Rest”. A mellow song without being acoustic, "All to Rest" was one of the band's singles off this EP and when one listens, one can understand why it was chosen.

It encapsulates the vibes from the EP very well, which is why it’s also a great opening track. The next song of the album, “Glass Teeth”, is a bit faster pace while still keeping the same tone of the opener, “All to Rest ''.

It’s a song that gets stuck in your head and you aren’t annoyed about it. When one really listens to the lyrics, they get pretty real. The lyrics in general on this EP are complemented beautifully by the music.

“Figure Me Out” is like a mix between Cage the Elephant and Passion Pit. It’s upbeat, but still low key, following the path set forward with the first two songs on this EP.

The final song, “Estuary”, is such a great way to close out the EP. As "Verglas" goes on, it feels like it builds to this song, each track getting progressively bigger while keeping the same feeling throughout.

The term estuary, which is the title of their closing song, means ‘where the tide meets the stream’, referring to a river. It seems appropriate that this is the title of their closing song, as it’s where the entire EP comes together.

All of the songs on “Verglas” are very cohesive while still being able to stand alone. This EP sounds great and is so worth the listen.
