Wave Break Releases Empowering New Single- “Manic Dreams” Review

Written by Khristina Criqui

New Jersey’s most promising one-woman band is back at it again and ready to take a stand.

Following their release of their most recent single, “Chemical Burn'', Wave Break’s newest single “Manic Dreams” is a perfect follow up. Front-woman Kelly Barber, wants their upcoming EP to empower her listeners, and has worked extremely hard to make sure this next era of Wave Break embodies this message.

Barber’s goal is to inspire her listeners and help them realize the toxic energy around them. “Manic Dreams” which was released on August 13th, 2021, has such a perfect way of telling you how to stand up for yourself and not letting anyone break you down.

With the perfect amount of emotion, the song starts out with the lyrics

“I’m not scared of sheep who think they’re wolves / I’m out here prepared, collecting skulls / I’ll take this in my own hands if the world can’t help / You’re the prey and you’re not strong enough to rebel."

When listening to these lyrics, there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that you are strong enough to overcome any situation. Through any toxic situation, you can't just let them break you down.

As we go into the chorus, the emotion of the message becomes more prominent, with strong vocals that really capture the vibe of the theme.

You’ll never ever bait me in / Cause I am stronger than I seem / You can try and try to break me down / You’ll only get there in your manic dreams”

There comes a time when you get tired of people trying to belittle you. You need to find the strength in yourself to fight back, and that’s what Wave Break’s “Manic Dreams” is all about.

At this point, Barber refuses to be torn down and I think that anyone who listens to this new single will be just as empowered.
