Utmost Introduces Energizing New Sound on New Single - “Big Dose” Review

Written by Nolan Primavera

Hardcore band Utmost hailing from Staten Island, New York has dropped a new single in the first month of the new year! The track, titled “Big Dose”, features members of Only Sibling and has been released via Sunday Drive Records accompanied by a DIY-style music video.

The song introduces a new, refreshed sound for the band after their 2018 LP “A Garden, A Grave” and other singles they put out in 2019. “Big Dose” hits hard, sonically similar to the likes of Turnstile and other fan-favorite hardcore bands in the scene today, yet Utmost still makes the sound their own.

Vocalist Alex Allen filmed the music video himself, featuring lots of skating footage along with himself singing over the video. It gives off that grunge-esque tone associated with things that are made out of pure passion, which helps listeners connect further with the artist and shows Allen’s love for creating art, especially music.

Allen’s vocals also shine through on the new track, displaying huge growth since the band's earlier releases. The aggression in his voice in lyrics like, “Forever falling again / I keep it moving / When I’m moving again” in the chorus is sure to make you miss hearing songs like this in a live setting.

You can stream “Big Dose” anywhere you listen to music and support Utmost by picking up some of their merch from the Sunday Drive Records Store. Make sure to keep up with Utmost on Twitter @TheUtmostcrew and let us know what you thought of the new single on our Twitter @lgndsoftmrw!
