Tyler, The Creator is a musical artist, fashion designer, video directing creative. Coming from a career stemming from edgy music videos in the group, Odd Future, to the calm heartfelt experience of “Flower Boy,” he’s now dropped his 7th album, “Call Me If You Get Lost.”
It’s always been hard to describe Tyler’s sound, and this album strengthens that. We go from loud bass rap songs to soft admissions of love, and it works surprisingly well.
This album doesn’t have the genre whiplash of “Cherry Bomb,” instead, the difference of sound and genre helps to fulfill Tyler’s new artistic outreach even more.
After taking a journey from what he was originally known for, Tyler has returned to the genre he started in with a new mastery. This new album feels like a return to the form of what Tyler started as, with an amazing production full of verses talking about how successful he is, with an underlying story of heartbreak.
Some of the songs on this album are his best produced and written to date, which even Tyler is surprised about as he was “just writing about his life.”
“Call Me If You Get Lost” is a story about how successful he’s become while growing as a person, while also talking about the heartbreak of loving someone who belongs to another. Hearing this story unfold in the album is not only heartbreaking, but also beautiful as it’s represented in one of Tyler’s best, and most honest projects to date.
