Travel to The Milky Way With Slenderbodies - "Superpowerful" Review

Written by Sydney Durst

Slenderbodies, an indie American duo from California, released their second single “Superpowerful” in mid-January. The song is a dreamy follow-up to “Cherry Blossom”, a super fun psychedelic pop track.

“Superpowerful” mixes a rumba-like beat with dream-pop vocals, creating a relaxing atmosphere for the listener. The vagueness of the lyrics allow fans to interpret the song's subject matter however they'd like, with lovestruck lines like, “Superpowerful / Tugging heartstrings” as well as some referring to self-discovery like, “And we were dancing in the Milky Way / Don’t let it stop, I wanna be the only one.”

The single also presents an easy melody to sing along with and beat to dance your heart out to under the stars, or just in your bedroom lit up by LED lights. The soft percussions and strings make for a tune that is almost reminiscent of Caribbean music, cementing the summer feeling with electronic vocals.

Beyond the making music front, Slenderbodies partnering with The Trevor Project and Propeller for a giveaway where all donations will go towards The Trevor Project to help LBGT youth! This campaign ends on February 19th, 2020.
