Long Beach, California natives This Wild Life are no strangers to emotionally heavy tracks. Their new single “Still Wondering Why You Left Me Behind”, released on April 16th, 2021, is no exception.
The new track was released alongside existing singles "Nothing Hurts Like Love for the First Time" and "You Swore Your Love Would Burn." Lyrically, it tackles the feeling of a parent leaving behind their children and partner with no explanation for the disappearance, which no doubt can hit home for some listeners.
It's been about three years since the band's last album and this is their second single of 2021, so an album announcement seems imminent. It definitely looks like there's a connection between this track and the previous one, as the cover art matches the traditional tattoo-style graphics seen in the artwork from "You Swore Your Love Would Burn."
This Wild Life has called themselves the "Hot Topic Mumford and Sons" in the past, and that genre diversity shines through on this song as it always does. They've been able to stay afloat over the past year or so in spite of live music's absence, and we can't wait to see what they do next.
“Still Wondering Why You Left Me Behind” is available to stream on all platforms, and you can support the band by picking up some merch on their website as well as following them on Twitter @ThisWildLife!
