Arizona pop-punk group The Maine has released the second single off of their upcoming album, “XOXO: From Love and Anxiety In Real Time.” The track, “April 7th” is great for those in relationships, or it’ll make you wish you were in one if you’re not.
Frontman John O’Callaghan explains, “‘April 7th’ is a love song, through and through, but it‘s deeper than just puppy love. This song is about the first time you see someone, I mean truly, see them with all their vulnerabilities, all their flaws, all their beauty. April 7th was the day she let down her walls and allowed me in to see the side that so few get to.”
“April 7th” follows the release of “Sticky,” and both singles match the cover art perfectly; bright and sunny. This track in particular feels very impassioned and intimate.
From the first verse’s lyrics “When I’m with you well it’s just like it’s the first time / Never thought that you would turn into my best life” to the chorus’ lines “I see you when I close my eyes / I see you like I did that night,” there’s nothing but love, worship, and absolute devotion flowing through. The instrumentals are just as beautiful as the lyrics.
The Maine has always released catchy, fun music, and this song has helped them to continually raise the bar for themselves. The band has also released a music video for the song, which you can watch here.
“April 7th” is available now anywhere you stream music; you can further support the band by picking up something from their merch store including pre-orders for their upcoming album “XOXO: From Love and Anxiety In Real Time” due out on July 9th.
