State Champs Reclaim the Pop-Punk Throne with “Just Sound”- Review

Written by Hannah Clough

Summer is unfortunately came to an abrupt end, but thankfully State Champs have given us a new single to carry those warm vibes into the fall. “Just Sound” is the epitome of pop-punk and seems to be a solid bridge between the band’s most recent effort “Unplugged EP” and what’s to come.

The Albany-natives are no stranger to sound experimentation, but this track seems to go back to their roots, with its simple yet effective melody it will be stuck in your head for days.

The lyrics “ride tonight with just sound / up too high to come down” make "Just Sound" a perfect track to listen to while you're driving down the highway with windows down.

With the state of the world currently, the music industry as we know it has changed

massively. It’s relieving to see everyone starting to release music again, slowly, but surely.

State Champs are currently on the Pure Noise Tour with Real Friends, Bearings, Four Year Strong, and Mom Jeans! You can check out the dates and purchase tickets on their website!

You can support the group by streaming “Just Sound” as well as the rest of their discography on your preferred streaming platform, following them on Twitter @State_Champs, and picking up some awesome merch!
