Saturn Lane Opens Up On Learning From Her Mistakes With "Didn't Know Better"- Review

New York singer-songwriter Saturn Lane released her newest single “Didn’t Know Better" on August 6th. “Didn’t Know Better” follows up Saturn Lane’s previous 2021 single, “Messed Up” as well as her 2020 single, “Want You Bad.”

“Didn’t Know Better” is a pop-anthem showcasing Saturn Lane’s battle to accept her mistakes and how that battle has shaped her. In a post on Saturn Lane’s Instagram (@saturnlane), she shared her favorite lyrics from the song: “Let your heart that’s inside be the one to define / Take a breath, head up high, you’re gonna be just fine.”

These lyrics shed light on Saturn Lane’s journey to disconnect who she is from the struggles she has experienced, and instead places value in defining herself by her morals. Never shying away from discussing subjects like mental health and her anxieties of change, Saturn Lane manages to share her journey of self-forgiveness with honest lyrics about her struggles while still making listeners want to hit replay.

"Didn't Know Better" opens with an energetic keyboard part that reappears throughout the song. The lively keyboard is followed with a beat that will make you want to stop what your doing and dance, or at the very least bob your head to the rhythm!

Although completely of her own in her artistry, Saturn Lane showcases vocal runs and high notes that are reminiscent of one of her creative influences, Ariana Grande.
