It seems as if the second half of 2020 is a whole lot better than the first, with yet another EP to add to our ongoing list of upcoming releases. Alternative Toronto-based favorites PUP just announced, “This Place Sucks Ass”, set to drop October 23rd.
The EP will include the previously released "Anaphylaxis" and cover of Grandaddy's "A.M. 180", as well as the single that was released today, "Rot." Coming off their big release of “Morbid Stuff” in 2019, fans have high expectations, but these guys definitely do not disappoint.
“Rot” has everything we look for in punk music nowadays; a killer guitar riff, relatable lyrics, and a breakdown that’ll make you want to open up the pit at your favorite venue. This track oddly relates to how I’ve felt over quarantine, yet comforts me in a way that’s indescribable.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to catch PUP live, but I’m sure when shows return this song will definitely deliver in a live setting, given that the studio version already has me bringing the energy in my kitchen.
"Rot" is available to stream wherever you listen to music, and "This Place Sucks Ass" is available for preorder on PUP's online merch store, with bundles including vinyl, sweatpants, shirts, tote bags, and tickets to the band's first-ever live stream, a release show for the EP, taking place on the day it drops. To make sure you don't miss what they do next, you can follow PUP on Twitter @PUPTheBand.
Have you had a chance to listen to "Rot" yet? How excited are you for "This Place Sucks Ass?" Let us know by tweeting us @lgndsoftmrw, and be on the lookout for a full review of the EP coming soon!
