Rewind Reviews: Two Years Later, and Point North Has Done Anything But "Retrograde"

Written by Sidney Strunk

On February 1st, 2019, Point North released an EP titled “Retrograde”, introducing five songs that would become staples for fans in years to come. “Retrograde” was the beginning of a huge surge in popularity for the band, and it’s easy to see why.

Since its release, this collection of songs has received millions of streams. Each track is beautiful and somewhat heart-wrenching, touching on themes like lost love and mental illness.

With a seamless blend of pop-punk and modern pop, every song on “Retrograde” appeals to a broad audience and really allows the band to dip their toes into multiple genres. While not straying too far from that traditional pop-punk sound that fans know and love, there's a unique flair that’s all their own.

In the last two years, the band has signed to Hopeless Records and grown their fanbase immensely, a lot of that being accomplished even amidst a global pandemic that has slowed much of the music community down. They toured with bands like As It Is, Stand Atlantic, and eventually Sleeping With Sirens, even getting a chance to work with Kellin Quinn on a single for their sophomore album “Brand New Vision”.

After a year like 2020, it feels good to reminisce about old favorites and music we love to hear played in a live setting; tweet us @lgndsoftmrw and share your favorite memories of Point North's "Retrograde" era! In honor of its anniversary, you can listen to “Retrograde” wherever you stream music, and check out Point North’s merch store here.
