After being teased on Twitter, musicians Tilian Pearson and Anthony Green released a cover of “Christmas Don’t Be Late” by Alvin & The Chipmunks. Dance Gavin Dance’s vocalist Tilian Pearson and Circa Survive’s vocalist Anthony Green discussed a possible collaboration for the Christmas season which their fans responded to with excitement, prompting the song's release.
As noted before, “Christmas Don’t Be Late” is a song originally sung by Alvin & The Chipmunks. The track is known for its squealing vocals, cartoonish antics, and cheesy lyrics.
It was interesting to see the singers chose this Christmas song compared to any other generic holiday track. Tilian opens the track with his nasally vocals, which transition into Green's silvery vocals.
The track has a layer of squealy vocals harmonizing with the duo, which adds a nice tribute to the chipmunks. Not only does it add an ode to the original song, but also puts us in the Christmas mood!
As the track transitions into the chorus, a repetitive drum beat with a higher-pitched key plays out. Tilian and Green continued to synchronize well and while still having their musical styles displayed.
Overall, Tilian and Anthony Green did a wonderful job covering a classic Christmas favorite. Fans from both vocalists were pumped to see the two work together, and with good reason; aside from the track being great, all profits from it will go to Prevention Point Philadelphia, providing harm reduction to citizens of Philly and the surrounding areas.
