Over a year ago the Richmond based, alternative-rock band Fanfare released their single “Pulling Punches.” This was the most recent music we’ve had from them until Friday, February 12th, when they dropped their newest single, “Nothing’s Changed.”
A power-chord filled intro starts the song, followed by the powerful vocals which pick up shortly after. At first listen, this track immediately reminded me of something that would come from the record “Feel Something” by Movements.
The lines “I haven’t felt anything in the last two years / and that’s no one’s fault but mine / and I can’t remember the last time when I felt anything but fine” show that the narrator is in a constant cycle of pain where nothing changes. These vocals flow perfectly with the instrumentals, making you feel like you are in the same position as the narrator.
At about three minutes long, this song hits the spot for everything you’d want to see for a band in this genre. The hard-hitting lyrics mixed with the impressive instrumentals makes for a cohesive and catchy alternative-rock song where the strengths of each member shine.
With the band still early on in the stages of their careers, the fact that they are releasing tracks as strong as this right off the bat shows they are a force to be reckoned with.
A few days after the release of “Nothing’s Changed”, the band shared on social media that they will be releasing a new song on February 26th titled, “Gone.” Make sure to keep an eye out for that release because based on their track record it's for sure going to be a hit.
