NOFX Revamps a Hit That Wasn’t Meant to Be - “Linewleum” Review

Written by David Tauscher

California punk band NOFX (pronounced no ef-ex) has returned in 2021 and graced our ears with a short new tune. It may sound familiar and if it does, that's because we've heard it before.

The new track “Linewleum” is the band's hit song “Linoleum” but with different lyrics and musically re-arranged. “Linoleum” is NOFX’s most popular song, despite not being a single, having a music video, or having a chorus.

While “Linewleum” largely remains the same as its critically acclaimed counterpart, bassist/vocalist Michael "Fat Mike" Burkett talks about how played out the song is, how bands never get it right live and that its time to put it to bed. Sonically, it starts slow, gradually building up to fast-paced drums and guitars.

Avenged Sevenfold is a featured artist on the track, providing an awesome solo right before the final verses. The updated lyrics really keep the song fresh and are the highlight of the song.

"Linewleum" is available to stream wherever you listen to music, as well as NOFX's entire discography; you can support them by picking up some merch, including pre-orders for their new record "Single Album" due out on February 26th. You can keep up with them on Twitter @NOFXband and follow us as well @lgndsoftmrw!
