Since the outbreak of Covid-19, everyone in the music industry has realized they need to rethink how they can still do their jobs, including releasing music. The only answer that exists is doing everything remotely.
For California indie-pop band Wallows, this was the tactic for their upcoming EP, Remote, which includes the first released single, “Nobody Gets Me (Like You).” “Nobody Gets Me (Like You)” has been teased for what feels like forever through live streams from the trio's virtual concert and on Instagram by vocalist/guitarist, Braeden Lemasters.
Fans no longer had to anticipate when the band released the single along with a music video on September 9th. With vocals from Braeden Lemasters, this single is all about having a connection with someone that you can’t share with absolutely anybody else, even if you just met them, emphasized in the line, “We only just met tonight, but I think we’ll put up a good fight.”
If you’re a fan of Wallows or have just heard only one song, you’ll notice right off the bat that this isn’t your usual “Wallows sound.” Although this tune would be considered a bit more poppy and electronic than anything the group has released before, it’s still amazing.
During this quarantine, the release of this single along with their previous “OK” shows how the band is really experimenting with their sounds and it’s a really cool thing to see. “Nobody Gets Me (Like You)” is one of those tracks that just makes you want to smile and fall in love.
In a continuation from their music video for “OK,” Wallows released a music video for the new track where, at a party, Braeden Lemasters catches feelings for a face that’s all too familiar. I’ll leave that up to you to catch who it is, and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
