As 2020 comes to a close, the last songs of the year are being released. New Jersey's Drive, Kid are ending the year on a high note with their latest single, "Lucy (ft. Sierra Binondo)."
This song is standard pop-punk through and through. It’s got powerful bass, cutting guitars, and smooth vocals.
I really enjoy the contrast between the music and the lyrics; lyrically, it seems like this song is about heartbreak and trying to reclaim a lost love. The music, on the other hand, is a lot poppier compared to the lyricism.
One of the other highlights on this track is Binondo's verses. The addition of her vocals gives a great look into the other person's side of the story, not just the narrator.
This back and forth between them adds depth to the song and you can feel the emotion behind the lyrics; with her feature, everything becomes just a bit more real. If you’re a fan of pop-punk and melancholy lyrics with a contrasting sound, then Drive, Kid’s “Lucy (ft. Sierra Binondo)” is the track for you!
