New York’s favorite brass-emo boys dropped a fantastic cover of The Beach Boys’ “Fun Fun Fun” just in time for summer! Step right up and listen to the newest addition to your muscle beach party!
Released on June 25, 2021, Millington’s newest cover is sheer perfection. Infusing their notorious ska/brass-emo sound into The Beach Boys’ pop standard is just what this summer needs. This cover is refreshing, sweet, and all around a pure summer vibe.
Led by Cody Okonski, who takes on the first verse and high harmonies, this song can only be described eponymously. Okonski’s vocals are fully known to the Millington fanbase, and they fully deliver on this track.
Okonski is then joined by Alex Maloy, taking the vocals on the second verse, giving a small contrast between himself and Okonski. Maloy’s vocal stylings fit well in this piece, allowing for some fun play between Maloy and the band.
After Maloy and Okonski, Rutski, Millington’s drummer, joins in singing the third verse. Equally sharing in vocal talent with Maloy and Okonski, Rutski’s vocals hit, bringing in more pop-punk idiosyncrasies that lend themselves well to the style of the song.
One highlight of this great track is Jon Bintz’s bass vocals that appear during the second verse of the song, rounding out this “acapella, but not” sound. His trombone solo is also a highlight in the middle of the track, bringing in the ska influence of Millington's earlier material.
Another great note of importance is the cover art for the single. Channeling The Beach Boys’ iconic California style, the boys of Millington ham it up on a vintage record cover, playing on the style of the 50’s and 60’s.
