Maloy Returns With Stellar Summer Anthem- “Close” Review

Written by Megan Langley

Maloy first debuted back in 2018, and have released a handful of singles over the course of the last few years. Their 2020 single “This Feeling” is a very catchy and captivating track that I still find myself frequently listening to.

They just recently followed up that song with their latest release, titled “Close.” The drums pair with clean, bright guitars to lead the intro and drive the song’s uptempo rhythm. Synths and piano do this during the much softer verses, which allow the smooth vocals to really shine through, delivering irresistible melodies that engage the listener as the song goes on.

The drums and layers of vocal harmonies create a dramatic build-up to the chorus, where the hard-hitting guitars from the intro make a return, and the lead guitar in particular provides a very catchy solo as well. Soft, subtle lead guitar parts take the lead during the more laid-back outro, creating a more atmospheric tone as the volume slowly begins to fade and the song gradually reaches its end.

Maloy draws influence from country, pop, and alternative-rock and that fusion of musical influences is shown through the melodies and instrumentals, which bring unforgettable composition to the table all throughout the song. That composition brings a happy, carefree tone to the song, making it a stellar summer anthem from the group.

“Close” is now available on all streaming platforms. You can keep up with Maloy on Twitter (@MALOYtheband), and if you’ve heard the track, let us know what you think by tweeting us @lgndsoftmrw!
