Los Angeles post-hardcore band Touché Amoré have released a new single, “Limelight” as well as announcing their fifth studio album, “Lament”. While the band has released a few singles since their 2016 album “Stage Four”, this is the first one to be part of a larger-scale project.
Touché Amoré teamed up with Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull to create this screaming ballad about growing up and finally taking the time to slow down with somebody else at your side. It begins with a soft but catchy beginning guitar riff, which builds up into an intense chorus paired with lyrics “I’m tired and I’m sore/ I’m not so young anymore”. Though there are melancholy undertones in “Limelight”, it isn’t sad, but rather reflective of youth. Though the instrumentals are hard-hitting, it’s the passionate, screaming vocals mixed with their emotional lyrics that are what build this song into a very memorable and promising piece. Such a powerful song is only the start to what will inevitably be another remarkable album by the five-piece, and is an emotionally hard-hitting release that is absolutely worth the listen.
You can pre-order merch and the album itself, which will be coming out on October 9 through Epitaph Records, on the band’s website. As for now, “Limelight” is available to stream on all music services.
