This is a pretty confusing time for all of us and while we try to stay positive and stay safe, artists are coming together during this period and releasing new music (whether it was due to be released before the pandemic or it was a spur of the moment opportunity.) Recently, Columbus, Ohio alternative duo Twenty One Pilots were part of the musical community coming together for a standalone single titled Level Of Concern.
The single, which lyrics are influenced by the coronavirus and the feelings of worry and isolation that many of us feel all while taking on a hopeful sound during challenging times; “I don’t really care what they would say / I’m asking you stay in my bunker underneath the surface.”
Level Of Concern may be a bit of a switch from the Twenty One Pilots we have come to know considering this is the first song singer Tyler Joseph has written on an electric guitar giving us a dance-pop-rock tune. Along with a brand new song we were given a music video to go along with it. The video shows various clips of the duo Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun going back and forth between working on the song and video in their respective homes, isolating away from each other as we do as well. The video feels very real to me despite how simple it comes across, but maybe it’s the effortless look and view into their families that make it work.
A portion of proceeds from Level Of Concern will be donated to Crew Nation, a relief fund for crewmembers and venue workers.
