"Let's Fly to Rome" - Sinclaire Review

Written by Erika Nissen

“Let’s Fly to Rome” is a huge leap for Australian four-piece Sinclaire. The single, which premiered on Australian radio station Triple J Unearthed on August 26th, comes less than two months after their previous single, “I Needed You”.

If you haven’t heard of Sinclaire before, you’re in for a treat. Hailing from Sydney, the band describes themselves as “anti-pop” and have previously supported bands like Trophy Eyes and The Maine.

Though “Let’s Fly to Rome” does differ sonically from the band's debut EP “Now I’m Ready to Start”, the biggest difference is that it's the first time that lead singer Michael Cross has showcased his falsetto. His soft vocals are reminiscent of The 1975, one of their biggest influences, and perfectly compliment the dreamy aesthetic of the song.

Personally, I believe that the aforementioned aesthetic of this release was a huge part of what has made it so special for both fans and the band. After seeing the use of projected images and rainbow gradients in both the album artwork and promotional photos, I can only imagine how magical of an experience it would be to see this song played live.

Both visually and sonically, Sinclaire has found a way to make you feel like you’re floating on a cloud with this release. This song truly transports listeners to another world and, as described by the band, allows you to live in a “euphoric daydream fuelled by love & sporadic decisions”.

"Let's Fly to Rome" is available now, wherever you listen to music. You can keep up with Sinclaire by following them on Twitter @SinclaireBand.
