'Leave It All Behind'- Sleeping With Sirens Review

Written by: Khristina Criqui

Sleeping With Sirens are mostly known and loved for their heavier sound, which include songs off their debut With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear or from their second album, Let’s Cheers To This. Songs like If You Can’t Hang or Kick Me, give us the vibes that we know and love. In 2017, the band took a different approach and changed up their sound.

Though their most recent album, Gossip, seemed to give them more success, After seeing so many requests for the old sound back, Jack Fowler, (one of the lead guitarists) tweeted in response:

“So apparently you guys want it, give us a little time and you’ll have it right back where we left off.....”

After what seemed to be a long wait, Sleeping With Sirens fulfilled their promise and came back stronger than ever. How It Feels to Be Lost is their sixth coming album and set to come out September 6th, almost two years after Gossip was released.  With that being said, they announced their comeback with their first single off the album, Leave It All Behind.

This track first made it’s debut on stage while the band was in the UK for All Points East Festival, which sent fans into a frenzy and was finally officially released just a few weeks later.

The band’s newest single sends them off to a great start. The lyrics, firstly, are beautifully written. As the listener, the song automatically connects you. For example, the lyric:

“I’ll be your hope when you are hopeless.”, is a lyric that may connect with you if you’re feeling alone."

Along with the lyrics, the music gives you the heavy, nostalgic vibes that the band is known for, I’m personally a fan of the heavy vibes the guitar and bass give, even as the song gets softer during the chorus in the beginning, Kellin’s vocals along with instrumentals, keep the heavy vibes alive.

With a song like Leave It All Behind, there is no doubt in my mind that the band we all know and love, is back and better than ever. Make sure to give How It Feels To be Lost a listen when it comes out September 6th.
