Kulick, an alternative singer-songwriter from Pennsylvania, has dropped his latest album “Yelling in a Quiet Neighbourhood”, and it definitely lives up to the hype that the drop of the single “Rope” caused. The album features nine songs, one of those being “Rope” which debuted with a music video. The tracklist alone looks interesting, with song titles such as “Talking to the Ceiling” and “Waiting for You”.
The first track on the album is titled “Crawling”, and it's a great opener. This song grabs the listener’s attention in a way that will make them want to hear what else Kulick has to offer, especially of how emotional and strong it is lyrically.
Up next is the aforementioned “Rope." The juxtaposition of the more lighthearted sound with the meaningful, melancholy lyrics flows perfectly together.
Track three is titled “Just be Friends”, and it captures listeners from the start. It really draws you into the story it's trying to tell and the lyrics come full circle towards the end.
The fourth track on the album is “Waiting for you,” which is definitely different from the rest of the project. It starts with a piano playing, setting the emotionally heavy mood, conveying feeling in a way that feels fresh.
Track five, “Monster”, starts off very softly with an acoustic guitar playing alongside a piano track. This song works super well in the middle of the album, with amazing lyrics using captivating symbolism to make listeners feel like they're in the middle of a movie.
Up next is “Fun!”, with a title that isn't reminiscent of the subject matter at all. The surprise of a melancholy track was intriguing though, a stand-out lyrically and a perfect fusion of the previous tracks on the album sonically.
Track seven, “The Way I Am”, mixes a fun sound with sad lyrics, while piano ballad "Lonely" pairs a sadder sound with well-written lyrics that match. Both tracks are super personal, making them that much more accessible and easy to connect with for fans.
The final track on the album is titled “Talking to the Ceiling.” A calm, peaceful backing track layered with emotional lyrics make for a perfect closer.
