In The Mourning Starts Off Strong With Promising Debut Single "At What Cost"- Review

Written by Megan Langley

Over the course of the past several weeks, In The Mourning have been dropping teasers on various social media platforms, leaving hints for their followers about what was to come from the project on June 11th. That date brought the debut single from this brand new Los Angeles-based project titled, “At What Cost.”

The intro offers some catchy guitar riffs, and those riffs return to accompany the vocals in the verses. The overall vocal performance showcases the immense amount of talent that the project’s front woman, Amanda Tran has as a vocalist, especially during the choruses that follows up those earlier sections of the song.

More instruments join in once this chorus rolls around, and this addition makes the choruses sound much bigger and more anthemic. The drums are highlighted a lot more during the bridge as they drive the lively, uptempo rhythm and build up that section of the song,

The vocals put on another impressive performance during this section as well before the aforementioned chorus makes a comeback. “At What Cost” is at the intersection of pop-rock and pop-punk, fusing together bits and pieces of those two subgenres to create a memorable single and a very promising debut from In The Mourning.

“At What Cost” is available on all your favorite streaming platforms. If you enjoy the track, be sure to follow In The Mourning on Twitter @inthemourningla and pick something up from their offical merch store!
