Towards the end of 2020, New Jersey-based musician Idle Wave released a brand new single titled “Stay.” Now, he has returned to kick off 2021 with the release of another new track, titled “My End.”
Idle Wave’s previous couple of singles show a softer and more laid-back side of his sound, and this new track does the same thing. The drums and acoustic guitar drive the upbeat rhythm of the song, while a distorted electric guitar accompanies those instruments all throughout the track.
The softer vocals fit perfectly with the much more minimalistic instrumentation, and the melodies that those vocals deliver over the course of the track are super catchy. The same thing can also be said about the lead guitar parts in the chorus.
A couple of dissonant chords and notes are added in right before those choruses, which mixes things up a little bit and makes the composition of this track sound more unique. Not only does “My End” continue to showcase the newfound indie and alternative influences within Idle Wave’s music, but this new track also shows him experimenting with his sound even further.
There are elements of subgenres such as emo and shoegaze added into the mix, and they all blend perfectly. Overall, this track shows the continuous evolution of Idle Wave’s sound and is bound to leave fans and listeners curious as to what they can expect from him next.
