With bands such as My Chemical Romance and Man Overboard, New Jersey is known for their killer music scene. It’s no surprise that Highwind, an up and coming pop-punk band, comes from the Jersey music scene. Highwind has only been around for a year, yet their energy is astounding and they have the potential to take the pop-punk world by storm. I was blessed to have caught them on the first night of their weekend run with Promiser on October 24, 2019, at Out of the Blue Art Gallery in Allston, MA. Out of the Blue is a small art gallery full of thought-provoking art from local artists. A show at Out of the Blue has to hold up to the character of such a cool and unique venue, and Highwind did not disappoint! With their vibrant and energetic stage presence, Highwind brought their A-game as the crowd danced, moshed, and sang back at the band. Not only did Highwind play their latest single, “2023”, they also inserted a cover of “The Great Escape” by Boys Like Girls. A perfect way to tie in the new and old pop-punk scene. “2023” is available on all streaming platforms.
