New Jersey alternative band Highwind, the solo project of Chris Russo Jr., put out two new singles today, March 12th. Titled “Will You Please (Stay)” and “Sleepless in L.A.”, the two songs usher in a new era of music for the artist.

“Will You Please (Stay)” is a song about holding on and continuing through, even when you don’t want to. It’s an encouraging song with hard-hitting, relatable lyrics.

One of the standout lines from this song is, “If you can open your eyes, you can survive.” Sometimes it’s hard to even get out of bed, but if you keep waking up, there’s hope. And Highwind is really making their listeners feel that with this song.

The song as a whole is reminiscent of early Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness. Using light instrumentals and deep lyrics, Russo's message is communicated masterfully.

“Sleepless in L.A.” is a different song from “Will You Please (Stay)”, but the two tracks feel like they were paired together for a reason. They both have a similar feel with different stories being told.

The second song is about long drives by yourself. It’s still somewhat about struggles and being alone, and that story is told to listeners beautifully.

The feature of Sierra Binondo was a great addition to “Sleepless in L.A.” Her voice added such a nice contrast and a little something extra to the track, similarly to Sharon Costanzo on 90s one-hit-wonder Len's "Steal My Sunshine."

Both tracks, "Will You Please (Stay)" and "Sleepless in L.A." are available to stream wherever you listen to music, along with the rest of Highwind's discography; you can support the band by keeping up with them on Twitter @HighwindBandNJ and picking up some merch.
