On July 22nd the Philadelphia-based alternative-rock band Grayscale returned with their new single “Dirty Bombs.” Grayscale is a five-piece group composed of Collin Walsh (vocals), Dallas Molster (guitars and vocals), Andrew Kyne (guitar), Nick Ventimiglia (bass), and Nick Veno (drums).
The music video premiered Thursday on the Fearless YouTube channel, following a live Q&A with frontman Collin Walsh. “Dirty Bombs'' is a pop-rock song that opens with a whimsical guitar that is reminiscent of the sound established on their sophomore album, “Nella Vita.”
In addition to the guitar, the song also opens with Veno’s signature steady and clear drums. The lyrical content of the single focuses on living your life the way you wish and not allowing outside influences, especially those on the internet, to guide you away from the things that make you unique.
Lyrics like “I hate the people that you hang with, and how you let them get inside your head” provide an insight to a message that is close to frontman Collin Walsh, who deactivated his twitter account last year after claiming to hate the toxic culture that lives on the app. Following the release of the latest single, the group announced that it would be the first off of their third studio album, “Umbra.”
In a statement on the band’s Instagram account (@grayscalepa), they announced that “Umbra” would be released on August 27th and is currently available for pre-order. “Umbra” is an 11 track album that explores the sound that Grayscale has since refined while working on their past albums, “Nella Vita” and “Adornment.”
If the catchy anthem “Dirty Bombs” is up your alley, you can see Grayscale live this summer at Sad Summer Fest with bands like All Time Low, The Maine, and The Story So Far. They are also doing additional dates on the Side Summer tour with All Time Low and the Maine.
You can find dates to their tour on their official site here! Make sure you pre-order "Umbra" while you're there as well.
