New Jersey pop-punkers FRND CRCL recently put out a revamped version of their 2017 hit, "Joyride", titled "Joyride 2.0." After dropping their latest album "Internet Noise" back in May, they’re already back to give us more.
"Joyride 2.0" also serves as the band's first release after signing to Lost Music Collective, a label co-founded by Vinnie Fiorello, best known as former drummer/founding member for Less Than Jake. The song delivers a quirky, indie-pop-punk sound that you love to hear.
It’s the perfect blend of this youthful “I don’t give a crap” mentality that earlier 2000’s punk bands like Sum 41 gave us while still being able to keep it fresh, similarly to more modern bands like WSTR. It all ties together with a catchy hook; “Because my TV’s on, it seems like I fell asleep again / My car is gone she took it for a joyride.”
This is the type of tune that you sing along to with friends as you pile into the car for a road trip, and it just feels right. Although both versions of the song are enjoyable, "Joyride 2.0" is a nice refresher of the band’s earlier yet beloved work.
"Joyride 2.0" is available for streaming wherever you listen to music, and you can support FRND CRCL by following them on Twitter @FRNDCRCL and picking up some merch. Let us know which version of the song you prefer by tweeting us @lgndsoftmrw!
