Today on April 30th, 2021 Pennsylvania emo-rock quartet Mallory Run released their newest single "Oh, Normalcy" and announced their new EP, "Picture Perfect", due out May 21st. The transition from nonstop touring to total isolation over the past year or so has certainly been interesting for the band, and this song is centered around that.
When asked about the meaning of the track, vocalist Dan McClune said, “This song kind of outlines the way I have been trying to look at things. There is so much beauty around that can often be left to the wayside as far as appreciation goes...everyone is so caught up in so many different things, that sometimes the subtleties get forgotten. Life is so much more about how you react to the things that happen to you, and sometimes you have to realize that in order to really appreciate the full picture.”
With so much COVID-19 pandemic-related downtime, the four-piece has been able to really take their time on this release, and truly think it is a summation of their best work from the past two years. While they bonded over a love of Citizen and have a sound similar to Knuckle Puck, Boston Manor, The Story So Far, and Movements, there's sure to be something for everyone on Mallory Run's new EP.
