'Drink About It'- Issues Review

Written by: Jayme Stewart

Issues dropped the single Drink About It on August 12th. It is the second single off their highly anticipated album ‘Beautiful Oblivion’. This single premiered with a video as well, the second music video from the album as well.

From the start, this track has a very catchy vibe to it. One thing that Issues is good at is making catchy flows- and this song is no different. It is the type of song that can get stuck in your head very easily so it is likely to remain a stand out track even once the full album is released. This song isn’t as heavy as Tapping Out, the first single, was, but I think that was right for the song.

The lyrics are interesting, they carry a lot of emotion and coming from an analytical angle, are very well written. It is a very smart song with a lot of metaphors that are light enough to keep the song pretty light hearted with a dark twist.

The instrumentals on this song were solid, they varied from light in the beginning to heavier throughout the song and it was very fitting. It sounds like an Issues song, which is good for some and not for others depending on if they like Issues’ established sound.

All around, this is a good song. The lyrics are solid, the beat is solid, and it carries a lot of elements that make it more than just the surface level. The music video was amazing as well, and when watched can add an aura to the song that makes it feel very powerful. This single is making me even more excited to see what the full length album, Beautiful Oblivion, will sound like.

See Issues on tour this fall.
