Dial "1-800-miss-ur-guts" With Tramp Stamps - Review

Written by Sydney Durst

Tramp Stamps is a three-piece pop-rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. With two single releases under their belt, “Sex With Me” and “1-800-miss-ur-guts,” the band has taken on the mission of singing about the intimate emotions and discussions that women have.

They’ve also brought a modern sound to pop-rock, similar to when Avril Lavinge hit the airwaves almost 20 years ago. This new single is a slower-paced counterpart to their breakout single “Sex With Me”, more of a love song filled with longing and reminiscing rather than a righteous anger-filled tune.

“1-800-miss-ur-guts” opens with strong vocals from lead singer Marisa Maino waking up and immediately remembering the days of yesteryear with a former love. Describing the two of them as “Just a Tumblr girl and a skater boy,” Manio goes on to sing about their high school romance, expressing that despite what she might have thought at the time, she hasn’t moved on from their breakup or the love they shared.

By belting out the lyrics “Now I got a shit job / Fake friends that don’t know who you are,” she uses the final verse to return back to expressing her displeasure with her present life, sharing her final wish for her highschool love, for him to give her a call if he hears the track. It’s an ending that carries enough emotion to maybe even make the listener decide to see what their first love might be up to.

“1-800-miss-ur-guts” can be streamed everywhere; you can give Tramp Stamps support by checking out their merch and following them on Twitter @TrampStamps. Don’t forget to share your thoughts on the new single on Twitter as well @lgndsoftmrw!
