Hailing from California, Crooked Teeth is the project of Tyson Evans and could be classified as "bedroom pop for emo kids." Everything that has been released under the moniker thus far has been nothing short of unique, the type of sound you can listen to for a short couple of seconds and pinpoint exactly who it is. The newest single, “Light Me Up”, no doubt falls into that category as well.
This whole track is exciting, exhilarating, and, honestly, if you’re not dancing by the end, you need to listen to it again. The song also includes the celestial-sounding vocals from Talker.
Both artists' vocals complement each other so nicely, and when they finally combine during the chorus, it’s almost like two puzzle pieces coming together. Crooked Teeth explains that “the song embodies the circular emotions and obsessions - anger, frustration, grief, self-loathing - that are all-too-easy to get stuck in following a breakup.”
Through each line, you can feel every emotion. Crooked Teeth’s distinctive lyricism has always played a big part in what makes the songs so special, and this song is no different.
This song has to be one of the best that this band has put out since the EP “Honey” in 2018. It’s super catchy and super hard not to play on repeat!
“Light Me Up” is available now anywhere you stream music, and you can show support by picking up some Crooked Teeth merch. You can follow both artists on Twitter @CrookedTeethCA and @TalkerCeleste and let us know what you think of the track by tweeting us @lgndsoftmrw!
