"Burning Your World Down"- The Word Alive Review

Written by: Megan Langley

Following the 2018 release of their fifth album “Violent Noise,” The Word Alive have been hard at work on even more new material, and as of recently, they hinted at it on social media before dropping “BURNING YOUR WORLD DOWN,” the song that starts off the next chapter of The Word Alive’s career.

A hard hitting and captivating intro with darker composition foreshadows some of what the listener can expect from the rest of the track. The band combines a lot of elements from throughout their discography, shown throughout the whole track. The more melodic verses still incorporate raw vocal performances that show a ton of emotion, followed by an extremely catchy pre-chorus that leads up to an even catchier chorus. The melodies in that section of the song stuck with me since I first heard it, and the passionate vocal performance delivering those melodies blew me away on first listen, and still continues to do so every time I hear it. The impressive vocal talent continues to show in the second verse, where some screaming is even added in, tracing back to the band’s post-hardcore and metalcore roots a little bit, and the bridge has some of the strongest vocals on the whole song, where they deliver a very emotional performance.

“BURNING YOUR WORLD DOWN” is another very memorable track from The Word Alive, and is one that shows them combine various elements from past and present material. With this new single, the band really seem to have found the direction they want to go in, and it’s a very interesting and exciting one.
