Aspen Way Release Spirited, Fierce Single - “Rot Child” Review

Based in northern California, progressive metalcore band Aspen Way is here and ready to carry the metalcore scene with their new and improved sound. After the release of their last single “Stray Bullet” back in March, this new track proves that this band is here to stay.

Through recent changes in the lineup, Aspen Way has found their sound with “Rot Child” featuring Hunter Babcock of Wolf Skin. New vocalist Christian Connell's gritty vocals truly pull everything together.

The song opens slowly with a consistent drum beat that leads into an intense guitar sequence. Guitarists Jef Bodin and Riley Zertuche take center stage with brutal riffs right off the bat.

Finally, the instrumentals transition to the heavy vocals of Connell and Babcock. Throughout the track, their respective vocal ranges are on display.

The vocalists' deathly growls work fantastically together, shifting smoothly into a guitar-driven solo that intensifies “Rot Child” to the extreme. The long, heavy scream towards the end of the track offers one last farewell to the ferocious world we were invited into on this track.

As a whole, Aspen Way’s “Rot Child” helps to define the band's sound and identity. We can't wait to see what they do next!
