Now that 2020 has passed and we’re heading into 2021 full of hope, it’s time to discuss what the music scene might look like this year. Here are our pop-punk album predictions for 2021!

10. State Champs

Kicking off this list we have State Champs, who are known to release an album every two years. Last year would’ve been an album year, but due to the pandemic, I can see why it would be pushed back.

The band also stated on their Frozen Fest 2020 Twitch stream that new music would be coming in 2021. Fans have definitely had their time to bond with 2018's "Living Proof" and the acoustic EP "Unplugged" from last year, and a new album would be sure to take the pop-punk world by storm.

9. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

This one may be a bit of a stretch. Former Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin member Andrew McMahon's last album released under Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness was 2019's "Upside Down Flowers."

He did drop a single titled “Get On My Wave” to support his drive-in tour celebrating the anniversary of Jack's Mannequin's iconic record "Everything in Transit" over the summer of 2020, but there is no consistent pattern when looking at his previous records. While we’re hoping to see some new music from him this year, there’s no guarantee.

8. Trophy Eyes

Trophy Eyes is another band on our list because, like State Champs, they haven’t released an album since 2018's "The American Dream." They did release a super fun, pop-leaning single titled “Figure Eight” in 2020, potentially an indicator of new music.

On top of that, there have been pictures floating around of the band in the studio. Based on all of this evidence, we believe that we will finally get new Trophy Eyes material in 2021.

7. With Confidence

Not a day has gone by where we haven't seen fans asking With Confidence where their third full-length is. Since their last album "Love and Loathing" was released in 2018, we're thinking they'll have something up their sleeves for 2021.

Sensing a pattern yet? They've also captioned quite a few pictures with “WC3” teasing something new, another good sign.

6. 5 Seconds of Summer

5 Seconds of Summer is a band that can seemingly pull a great album out of thin air with little to no warning. Their fourth studio album "CALM" came out mid last year, but with how hard and quickly they work, they're not to be overlooked.

The Australian pop quartet has also done their fair share of teasing new material on social media. We're definitely excited to see what this versatile band does next!

5. Waterparks

Waterparks is one of those bands that is constantly releasing new music, so of course, they’ve started teasing what’s to come in 2021, blatantly stating on Twitter that they will have a new album out this year.

Their latest album “Fandom” was released in 2019, followed by a full tour cycle and live material. After releasing their single "Lowkey as Hell" and joining 300 Entertainment, home to hip-hop artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Fetty Wap in September, they can't be slowing down any time soon.

4. Grayscale

Next up is pop-punk favorites Grayscale. They've recently wiped their social media accounts clean and have been relatively quiet for quite a while, a surefire sign for something new in the works.

Since their last full-length release was 2019's "Nella Vita" with one-off single "Diamond" in late 2020, I wouldn’t put it past them to drop an album this year. The nail in the coffin? One of their latest tweets is a brand new photo of the full band captioned “2021.”

3. Mayday Parade

Mayday Parade is another band on this list that we aren’t 100% sure of, but there's a chance of new music for sure. The band's last record was 2018's "Sunnyland."

Since then, they've released the three-song 2020 EP "Out of Here" and a short live session titled "Live at Screaming Eagle", with live versions of some of the new songs. This band never disappoints, delivering emo classics like "Anywhere But Here" and "A Lesson in Romantics", and are sure to impress with whatever they do next.

2. As It Is

As It Is have been busy bees the last few months, constantly teasing new music on social media. Their lineup has changed a bit since their last release, so we can't wait to hear what the latest greatest version of this band sounds like.

The band's last album was “The Great Depression” which dropped in 2018. Like so many other bands on this list, this makes us consider them officially due for a new release.

1. This Wild Life

Finally, to close out this list we have This Wild Life. Their most recent record “Petaluma” was released in 2018, followed by a single and a cover in each year since then, with "Wicked Game" for "Songs That Saved My Life Volume Two" and "You Changed Everything" in 2019 and viral TikTok hit "Coffee For Your Head" and "Nothing Hurts Like Love for the First Time" in 2020.

The band has also loosely discussed the possibility of new music coming on Twitter. This Wild Life never really sticks to one sound, so we're excited to hear the newest version of this band as soon as they're ready to share it with us.
